The Process Before Breast Reduction Surgery

How is Breast Reduction Surgery Performed?
It is performed under general anesthesia.
The average duration of surgery is 2.5 to 4 hours.
Excess skin, mammary gland and fat tissue are removed.
The nipple is moved to its new position and aesthetically shaped.
T-shaped or lollipop (vertical) incisions are generally preferred.
It is closed with aesthetic sutures and a drain can be placed.
Incision Techniques:
Lollipop Incision (Vertical Scar): Vertical incision from the nipple downwards. Leaves less scarring.
Inverted T Incision (Inverted T): It is an incision extending under the breast. It is preferred for large breast reductions
Recovery Process
Mild pain, edema and bruising may occur for a few days after surgery.
A 1-night stay in hospital is usually sufficient.
Bra use is mandatory for the first 2 weeks. Afterwards, special medical bras are recommended.
