Curiosities

We understand you and your concerns. We have compiled your frequently asked questions and our answers for you.

Plastic Surgery, is a broad specialty that covers both aesthetic (cosmetic) and reconstructive (repair) surgery.

  • Reconstructive Surgery: It aims to repair tissue and organ losses caused by congenital anomalies, accidents, burns or diseases.
  • Aesthetic Surgery: It focuses on aesthetically improving the current appearance of the body. Dr. Alper Eskalen serves his patients with his expertise in both fields.

The pre-operative process is as important as the surgery. The general points to be considered are as follows:

  • Blood thinners and food supplements (aspirin, vitamin E, fish oil, etc.) should be discontinued under medical supervision.
  • Smoking and alcohol use should be stopped at least 2-3 weeks before the operation as they negatively affect wound healing.
  • You should provide your doctor with complete information about any existing chronic conditions and any medications you are taking.
  • You must follow the nutrition and fluid intake instructions given to you before surgery.

The healing process varies according to the type of operation performed and the general health status of the person. Generally, edema, bruising and mild pain may be observed in the first few days. Regular use of medication prescribed by your doctor, wearing the recommended corset or bandages and avoiding physical activity for a certain period of time will speed up the healing process. It may take a few weeks to a few months for the final results to appear.

As in every surgical operation, there are general risks such as anesthesia-related risks, infection and bleeding in aesthetic surgeries. However, these risks are minimal when performed in a full-fledged hospital by today's technology, modern surgical techniques and an expert surgeon. Dr. Eskalen will inform you in detail about all possible risks before the operation.

The results of many plastic surgery operations are long-lasting and even permanent. For example, rhinoplasty or prominent ear correction offer permanent results. However, after operations such as liposuction or tummy tuck, the aging process, gravity and lifestyle changes (weight gain and loss, pregnancy, etc.) can affect the results. Adopting a healthy lifestyle increases the permanence of the results.

The main goal of plastic surgery is to make scars as hidden, indistinct and aesthetically acceptable as possible. Incisions are usually placed in the natural folds of the skin or in hidden areas (such as the hairline, bikini line, underarms). The final appearance of the scars varies depending on the individual's skin texture, genetic factors and wound healing potential, but over time they fade and become less prominent.

The pricing of aesthetic operations depends on many factors:

  • Type and complexity of the operation to be performed
  • Type of anesthesia to be used
  • The hospital where the surgery will be performed and its standards
  • Special materials or implants to be used (breast prosthesis etc.)
  • The experience of the surgeon and the quality of the team

The best method for a clear price is to get a personal assessment after a face-to-face consultation with your doctor.
