Gynecomastia is a condition that causes aesthetic and psychological discomfort caused by abnormal growth of breast tissue in men. It can develop due to many different reasons such as puberty, hormonal disorders, drug use, obesity or genetic predisposition. In men, it manifests itself with marked swelling, fullness and sometimes tenderness in the chest area.
Gynecomastia can cause aesthetic discomfort as well as loss of self-confidence in social life. This condition can be permanently corrected with surgical intervention.

Types of Gynecomastia:
Glandular Gynecomastia It is due to enlargement of the mammary gland.
Adipose Tissue Dominated Gynecomastia: Also known as pseudogynecomastia. It usually occurs as a result of weight gain.
Mixed Type Both mammary gland and fatty tissue are enlarged together (the most common type).

How is Gynecomastia Surgery Performed?
The type of surgery is determined by the type of gynecomastia.
1. Gynecomastia Treatment with Liposuction
It is applied in patients with predominantly adipose tissue.
Fat is removed by vacuum method through small incisions.
The risk of scarring is low and the healing process is short.
2. Open Surgery (Excision) Method
The mammary gland tissue must be removed.
Tissue is usually removed through an incision around the nipple.
In some cases, excess skin is also removed.
3. Combined Technique
It is the most common practice.
Both liposuction and gland excision are performed together.
The operation time is usually between 1-2 hours. It can be performed under local or general anesthesia. Same day discharge is possible.
Recovery Process
You can return to normal life in 3-5 days.
A special gynecomastia corset should be used for 3-4 weeks.
Mild pain can be controlled with painkillers.
Swelling and bruising decrease within a few weeks.
Sports and exercise can be started after a week.
Scars are usually hidden around the nipple and become indistinct over time.
Gynecomastia Surgery Prices
Gynecomastia prices vary according to the technique to be applied, the severity of gynecomastia, hospital conditions and the type of anesthesia. Dr. Alper Eskalen evaluates each patient individually and creates an individualized treatment plan.
